Chris Muchka, Broker, Realtor®
As a 14yr old kid in 1992 living in a suburb of Milwaukee and having answered a classified add looking for a carpenter's apprentice to work in the summers, little did I know that this was the first step in my professional real estate journey. Fast forward to 2003. With a laundry list of construction experience as a carpenter both in and out of the union. I was 25 yrs old and working at Habitat for Humanity of Dane County as their very first hired in-field construction staffer. At the behest of my first real estate mentor and now dear friend (Bill Arnold), I was fortunate enough to have a brief window of salaried employment that allowed me to convince a bank to lend me the money to buy my first property - a single family home on Madison's near east side – a 2 bedroom, 1 bath that needed a TON of work. Amazingly, it came with an adjacent vacant lot that I dreamed of someday building another home on. The wheels were set in motion. I began to rent each room out in that home to individuals willing to put up with my constant remodeling and updates. After 4 yrs, the home was transformed to boast 5 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, a 2-car detached garage with an office above, and a 3 room fully functional music recording studio in the three new basement bedrooms. For a period of time, I even slept in the office above the garage to allow the home to be fully rented by five other people. From here I set my plan in motion – to acquire or build one to three new addresses every one to three years. By 2017 I had accomplished my goal in acquisitions and even obtained my Real Estate Sales License. Steven's Real Estate was the perfect firm for me at which to hang my license – having similar interests in real estate investing and in hands on approach in the property improvement side of the equation. By 2019, I had aquired my Real Estate Brokers License and gained a wealth of knowledge and experience from my affiliation with Steven's Real Estate. Specializing in working with other real estate investors. My experience lends itself perfectly to the buyer or seller looking for a comprehensive approach to acquiring or selling properties. Today, I hold a General Contracting License, Building Inspector License, and Real Estate Broker License with the State of Wisconsin. My over 30 years of construction experience as a carpenter has proven invaluable to my clients. Besides Real Estate Brokerage and property management services through my firm Progress Properties, LLC., my general contracting firms; Progress Builders, LLC. and Madison Tiny Homes, LLC offer full service custom home building and remodeling services specializing in Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU's), Insulated Concrete Form homes (ICF's), wood framed homes, and a full range of remodeling and renovation expertise. When my clients need their property of interest considered for sale or purchase, they are getting a clear picture of the health of the property, its potential, and an accurate gauge of its real value. Having participated with the Focus on Energy new homes and remodeling programs since their inception, I offer an enormous value in considering a home's energy footprint, potential retro fits and upgrades, and construction techniques to achieve my client's goals and in providing clarity on how and why the property is consuming energy and understanding it's carbon footprint. Most days you will find me either at my home office grinding away on a new deal for our firm or for a client, spending time with my wife and three children or, with my tool pouch on at a property either under construction or being renovated. I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your real estate goals and dreams. A My sincere thanks for taking the time to read up on me and for considering me as YOUR real estate professional. With warm regards, Chris Muchka. |
